Phosphate Management Across Different Reef Aquariums
ZeroFour has been evaluated in a range of saltwater aquarium systems, from a 13-gallon personal reef to a 130-gallon display tank.
Across these four user case studies, ZeroFour was placed directly into the aquarium filtration system and phosphate concentration was monitored over seven days.
The tanks varied in size, filtration configuration, and starting phosphate concentration, providing a look at how ZeroFour performed under different reef-keeping conditions.
130-Gallon Display Reef
Starting phosphate: 0.38 ppm
ZeroFour dose: 100 g
Placement: Sump
A 130-gallon saltwater display reef was treated with 100 grams of ZeroFour placed in the sump.
Phosphate concentration decreased from 0.38 ppm on Day 0 to 0.08 ppm by Day 3, reaching 0.05 ppm on Day 4. The measured phosphate concentration at the end of the seven-day period was 0.08 ppm.

In this 32-gallon LPS and soft coral aquarium, phosphate concentration declined from 0.37 ppm to 0.10 ppm within three days.
The lowest measured phosphate concentration was 0.04 ppm on Day 5, with the seven-day measurement ending at 0.08 ppm.

The 45-gallon coral flat began with the highest phosphate concentration of the four case studies.
Over the seven-day test period, phosphate concentration decreased steadily from 0.90 ppm to 0.24 ppm.
Measured phosphate levels declined throughout the test:
0.90 → 0.78 → 0.66 → 0.55 → 0.44 → 0.35 → 0.26 → 0.24 ppm

ZeroFour was also tested in a compact 13-gallon all-in-one reef aquarium.
Phosphate concentration decreased rapidly during the first several days, falling from a plotted 0.23 ppm on Day 0 to 0.05 ppm on Day 2 and approximately 0.04 ppm by Day 3.
The phosphate concentration remained below 0.10 ppm through the end of the seven-day test period.
