Instructions

How to Use

  1. Use 1 gram of .ZeroFour per gallon of true system water volume.
(Adjusted for rock, sand, and displacement.)

  2. Place .ZeroFour in a filter media bag or media reactor.

  3. Position in an area of moderate water flow.

  4. Run media for 7–10 days.
Do not exceed 15 days of use.

  5. Remove media from system.

  6. Proceed to regeneration before reuse.

Regeneration

Follow these steps to effectively regenerate and reuse your .ZeroFour media.

1. Preparation

Place the used .ZeroFour media into a clean container. Keeping the media inside its mesh bag is acceptable and recommended for easier handling.

2. Chemical Addition

Add the appropriate volume of RO water and the corresponding .ZeroFour Regeneration Chemical packet based on your media weight:

Media Weight Water Volume (Gallons/Cups) Water Volume (L) Reg. Chemical (Tablespoon)
25 g 0.13 Gallon (2 cups) 0.5 1
100 g 0.53 Gallon (8.5 cups) 2.0 2.5
250 g 1.32 Gallons (21 cups) 5.0 6

3. Active Regeneration

Provide gentle circulation for 8 hours.

  • Method: Use a small pump or powerhead.

  • Agitation: Periodically swing the media bag to ensure the chemical solution reaches the center of the bead mass.

4. Rinsing

Remove the media from the chemical solution and perform a thorough rinse using Reverse Osmosis (RO) water.

  • Volume: Use the same water-to-media ratio used in Step 2 (e.g., 2 cups for 25 g).

  • Duration: For best results, allow the media to soak in the RO water overnight (at least 14 hours) to ensure all deep-seated chemicals are displaced.

5. Completion

Once the rinse is complete, the .ZeroFour media is fully regenerated and ready for immediate reuse.

System Guidance

Regular phosphate testing is essential

When adjusting the parameters in your aquarium, testing is required to understand how your system is responding.

.ZeroFour is designed to help establish stable phosphate levels around ~0.04 ppm (PO₄)

The ideal phosphate range for reef aquariums is 0.03–0.05 ppm (PO₄).

When used as directed, .ZeroFour will not aggressively strip phosphate

Avoid overdosing or extending use beyond the recommended timeframe.

In systems with elevated phosphate levels, multiple cycles may be required.

In addition to phosphate, .ZeroFour will also help adsorb silicates, heavy metals, and other unwanted contaminants commonly found in aquarium systems.
